A mouse is taking a stroll by way of the deep, dark wood when along comes a hungry fox, then an owl, following which a snake. As Mouse explains, the gruffalo is a creature with terrible claws, and terrible tusks in its terrible jaws, and knobbly knees and turned-out toes, as appropriately as a poisonous wart in the finish of its nose. The mouse is good adequate to eat but smart enough to understand this, so he invents. After all, there's no such factor as a gruffalo. But Mouse has no worry to show. the gruffalo!
